591,735. Edge-runner mills. CLAYTON, GOODFELLOW, & CO., Ltd., and BARTON, A. May 11, 1945, No. 11936. [Class 59] The grinding roller A of an edge-runner grinding mill rotates on a pin B on a swinging crank arm C and is driven by spur gears H, J from a shaft K passing through the axis of the swinging crank arm C. A driving helical or bevel gear wheel M on the shaft K engages a stationary gear N and rotates as the casing F is turned by the driving shaft G. The swinging crank arm C pivots on the casing F which is closed to form an oil-bath sealed by oil-sealing rings T from the stationary sleeve O. The casing F turns on a ball-bearing Y2 which is raised above the pan on a central boss Q which is of small diameter and encloses a space for oil. The sleeve O carries the stationary gear wheel N, and provides an upper bearing W for the driving shaft G and a pivot for a bearing S on the casing.
