Abstract
585,293. Bearings. BERESFORD & SON, Ltd., J., and NELSON, E. T. Feb. 15, 1945, No. 3849. [Class 12 (i)] A machine bearing assembly comprises, in combination, a bush c mounted in an end cover a, a ball, roller or other bearing contained in the bush to support a shaft k, and one or more sealing rings m in the bush between the bearing j and the end of the bush open to the machine, a cover piece q, which may have a central hole provided with soft packing r if the shaft extends beyond the end cover a, being held to a flange e on the bush, as by screws g which may also hold the bush to the end cover a. The bearing j is held between a shoulder, or sleeve, o and a nut b, and the sealing rings m, which preferably have oppositely directed flanges, embrace the shaft k under the action of a helical spring n.
