Abstract

435,241. Cylindrical journal bearings ; lubricating. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Feb. 8, 1935, No. 4140. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1934. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (ii)] In a bearing arrangement for coaxial oppositely revolving shafts 1, 2, the inner one of the shafts is mounted in a bushing 3 carried by the outer shaft 2 and the latter rotates in a sleeve 4 universally mounted in a stationary bearing box 5, the centres of the bearings being axially coincident. The bushing 3 may also have spherical parts, as shown, for self-aligning purposes. The bushing 3 may be carried in a bushing 6 and the latter and the shaft 2 may have flanges 7, 8 secured together. The bearings may be lubricated by a gear wheel pump driven by a toothed wheel 10, the oil being fed to the bush 3 through a duct 11 from an annular oil groove 12 in the sleeve 4.
