Abstract

591,108. Structural elements. DINELEY, E. Aug. 21, 1944, No. 15924. [Class 20 (ii)] A member for use in the framing of buildings consists of a pair of channel members each comprising a web 1 and flanges 2 and a semi-circular swage or swages 3 running longitudinally of the web, the channel members being secured together by bolts or rivets 4 passing through the webs. The flanges and webs are provided with holes for securing them to other parts of the building. The channel members are spaced apart by wooden or metal tubes 6 or by an interposed plate or the like. Additional members 7 may be attached, with recessed flanges 8 for the attachment of wall covering sheets. In a modification, Fig. 6, the flanges 2 are inclined to the webs and additional members 9, 12, are attached ; a compound member of this type may serve as a corner stanchion.
