Abstract
591,096. Cooling radiators for motor vehicles. MICAL, C. Dec. 9, 1941, No. 15868. Convention date, Nov. 15, 1940 [Class 64 (iii)] A heat exchanger, more particularly a radiator for vehicles, comprises a plurality of tubes having an inlet 2 for warm liquid and an outlet 3 for cooled liquid, mounted inside a thermally insulated box 4 which in turn is mounted in a shell 5 whose walls are similarly insulated. Air enters by a scoop 16 and flows via a conduit 15 past a throttle 8, which is actuated manually or automatically at 9, and between the tubes to an outlet 19, excess air being bye-passed through conduit 6. Additional gaseous fluid is obtained from the device 13, e.g., an air blower, and mixed with the air entering by the scoop 16. If the temperature of the liquid varies, the volume of cooling fluid can be adjusted at 9, and the volume of liquid varied by means of a valve 24 on the liquid bye-pass pipe 23. Cold and warm air are mixed in a box 21 for heating purposes.
