Abstract

590,921. Brickwork; glass bricks. MENDELSSOHN, H. E., and CAMPBELL, J. A. March 13, 1946, No. 6303. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87.(i)] Brickwork consists of glass bricks 10 formed with vertical recesses 11 in opposed end faces 12 thereof and keyed together by glass connecting blocks 13 which engage the recesses in adjacent bricks and may extend through the bricks of two or more courses, Fig. 2, thereby strengthening the horizontal as well as the vertical joints between the bricks. The blocks are secured by mortar or like adhesive medium. In a modification (not shown) the connecting blocks are formed with a neck or necks extending to one or both faces of the brickwork, the exposed edge or edges of said necks being formed with flanges which conceal the joints in the brickwork.
