Abstract

The glazing unit comprises glazing 1 and a frame 2 surrounding the glazing 1, the frame 2 possessing, as a special feature, joining faces 7 flat on all sides and having a peripheral groove 8 therein for receiving connecting wedges 9. Such glazing units can be connected to one another very easily and fixed in a masonry opening. The glazing unit according to the invention is suitable in particular also for a modular construction system. Sets comprising a plurality of glazing units as well as profiled strips 10 and supports 11 permit the formation of complete windows or window walls. The invention reduces and simplifies the mounting work and provides the possibility of creating glazing units not, as hitherto, stepwise at the site, but at the factory itself. In addition, the invention provides the possibility of easy dismounting and, optionally, rearrangement. The invention can be used in particular also for glazing with fire-protection filling. <IMAGE>

Description

Technisches GebietTechnical field

The invention relates to a glazing unit consisting of a glazing and a frame surrounding the glazing. The invention further relates to a kit consisting of several glazing units.

Stand der TechnikState of the art

Glazing units are known and common in a variety of forms. As a rule, the frame is first installed in a wall opening and then the glazing is inserted into it. Last but not least, the necessary manual work and corrections during installation and the high weight of the glazing compel this gradual assembly.

If multi-pane glazing already reaches considerable weights, handling is made more difficult if a fire protection filling is added. For this reason, it has also already been suggested that the fire protection filling should only be introduced after the glazing has been inserted and that the glazing must therefore only be finished on the construction site. However, this has other disadvantages. This means that part of the glazing manufacturing process is shifted from the factory to the construction site. However, working conditions as favorable as in the manufacturing plant cannot be expected there. In addition, the construction site is usually further away, so that the complications the packaging also comes with additional cost increases due to necessary travel costs etc.

Darstellung der ErfindungPresentation of the invention

This is where the invention begins. She wants to propose a glazing unit for which even with glazing with a high weight, such as fire protection glazing, only an uncomplicated assembly on the construction site is required, which can be done quickly and safely. Furthermore, a kit consisting of such glazing units for larger masonry openings is to be proposed.

The object with respect to the glazing unit is achieved according to the invention in that a frame with all-round connection surfaces and a circumferential groove is used to accommodate connecting wedges.

In this embodiment, frames can be very easily connected to one another and fastened in a masonry opening. The simple and quick installation option makes it possible to provide several medium or small glazing units instead of large glazing units and to create complete glazing units at the factory which are transported to the construction site as a whole.

This reduces the work required on the construction site to a minimum. Transport and interim storage of the glazing are also safer, as the glazing is now protected by its frame. The handling of sharp-edged glazing and the resulting risk of injury are also eliminated on the construction site.

For the above-mentioned advantages, only a relatively slight increase in weight needs to be accepted in the handling - which is, moreover, considerably simplified. For a complete glazing unit of approximately 1m x 1m, this results in an additional weight of, for example, 10 kg compared to unprotected (pure) glazing, which is always the main weight (e.g. 100 kg and more).

In particular, the glazing unit according to the invention is also suitable for a modular construction in which standard sizes can be provided. This makes it easy to form larger window walls; in the same way, several smaller glazing units can be used instead of larger ones.

It applies to all glazing units that they have flat connection surfaces on all sides; these are generally perpendicular to the glazing level. This gives the glazing units a high level of stability and can be easily joined together. Grooves and connecting wedges ensure precise alignment and a firm hold, which can also be loosened if necessary.

Thus, the invention not only gains importance for assembly, but also creates the possibility of simple and easy disassembly and, if necessary, redesign. The fact that this is not just a theoretical possibility is shown by the constant development towards higher-quality glazing and the often encountered efforts to convert existing window systems accordingly. In any case, the glazing unit according to the invention offers excellent conditions for this.

Glazing units are best attached and secured in layers, whereby connecting wedges must first be used for the lower connection joint and the glazing unit to be added must be placed over them. This is followed by lateral securing to the adjacent glazing unit by inserting a connecting wedge into the upwardly open channel, as is formed by the grooves in two adjacent glazing units.

The connecting wedges only need to engage the grooves in a positive manner. They can even have a certain amount of play in the groove without the cohesion of the glazing units suffering as a result. Rather, assembly is made easier. If necessary, the connecting wedges can also be pulled again, i.e. loosen from the grooves and can be dismantled in reverse order.

The groove advantageously has a substantially rectangular cross section. - Such grooves are highly effective, are easy to manufacture and require connecting wedges of a simple shape.

The groove is expediently approximately twice as wide as it is deep. - This results in open channels with a square cross-section and the possibility of using connecting wedges, in which each side is equally in position.

According to a further proposal, the frame consists of a frame profile which only covers the end faces of the glazing and glass retaining strips screwed to the side thereof, the frame profile carrying the groove and the glass retaining strips form the connection surfaces of the frame together with the frame profile.

As a result, the entire frame can be formed by means of quite simple components, namely an essentially rectangular frame profile with the groove and generally simple rectangular strips for the glass stop. In addition to the advantage of simply realizing the necessary frames, that embodiment has the further advantage that simple replacement of glazing becomes possible without having to detach the corresponding glazing unit from its assembly. It is therefore sufficient to unscrew the glass retaining strips on one side, after which the glazing on this side can be removed.

The frame profile is advantageously a hollow profile made of metal, in particular steel.

A kit of several glazing units is characterized according to the invention in that sections of flat profile strips with a groove and supports formed therefrom or analogously are provided for attachment within the window reveal to form complete windows, window walls or the like as wall connections and stiffening elements.

The profile strips can be practically identical to the frame profiles described above, which allows particularly efficient production. They can be anchored directly to the parapet or window reveal and then serve as a lower or side wall connection; they can also be used as an upper end over the last glazing units. If two sections of such profile strips are combined, results this results in particular in a support with two lateral grooves and thus a stiffening element which can be attached between the lintel and parapet and to which glazing units according to the invention can be connected at the side.

Angular connecting wedges are advantageously provided for simultaneous engagement in a vertical and horizontal groove. - These connecting wedges are used at the corners of the glazing units. They are particularly practical because they attack in the most effective places, are secure in position and can be small and handy.

According to FIGS. 1 to 4, a ready-to-install glazing unit is formed at the factory, which essentially consists of glazing 1 and a frame 2. The glazing 1 is a multi-pane glazing with a fire protection filling, not shown. The frame 2 is formed in detail from sections of a frame profile 3, namely a hollow profile made of steel, and glass retaining strips 4 screwed thereon. The frame profile 3 surrounds the glazing 1, it just covering the end faces 5 thereof. The individual sections of the frame profile 3 can be bluntly cut to length or mitred, which is not shown here. Spacers 6 are arranged between the glazing 1 and the frame profile 3. It is a common block.

Fig. 5 ff. According to the invention, the frame 2 has flat connection surfaces 7 on all sides, which here are formed together by the frame profile 3 and the glass holding strips 4. The frame profile 3 has a groove 8 which rotates with the frame 2. Glazing units designed in this way are easy to combine and use Securing connecting wedges 9 (see. Fig. 5 ff.), Which are received by the grooves 8 of adjacent glazing units or appropriately trained wall or wall connections.

As can be seen from FIGS. 5 to 9, complete windows can be formed quite simply starting from the glazing units described. This only requires fewer additional parts, which can be put together with the glazing units to form kits. In addition to the already mentioned connecting wedges 9, the additional parts include, above all, sections of profiled strips 10 and supports 11 formed therefrom or analogously. The supports 11 extend in the masonry opening shown here only in outline form from the lintel 12 to the parapet 13 and are possibly also on the remaining window reveal 14 attached. In the area of the parapet 13, 11 profile strips 10 are arranged between the supports, namely anchored directly onto the parapet 13.

The profile strips 10 fulfill the function of a lower wall termination, while at the same time securing the supports 11 in their position and in particular their mutual distance. The supports 11 provide lateral connection options for the glazing units according to the invention. The upper end in turn form sections of the profile strip 10. The latter is identical to the frame profile 3, which is particularly useful.

As can also be seen, the frame profiles 3 and profile strips 10 or supports 11 have rectangular grooves 8, which here are twice as wide as they are deep, so that in combination there are channels for connecting wedges 9 with a square cross section. The connecting wedges 9 are otherwise angular (see FIG. 6a) and pass through specifically used at the corners, where they simultaneously engage in a vertical and horizontal groove 8 (cf. in particular Fig. 6).

In the area of the profile strips 10 and supports 11, compensation strips 15 are also provided in order to fill in and at the same time isolate the overhang created by the glass holding strips 4; these are sections made from a mineral fiber board. Finally, adjacent glass retaining strips 4 or, if appropriate, also compensation strips 15 together with their joint are covered by a metal profile or a metal cover 16, which on the one hand ensures a certain degree of tightness and on the other hand represents a design means.
