Abstract

590,278. Television. CINEMA TELEVISION, Ltd., and WEST, A. G. D. Oct. 18, 1944, No. 20191. [Class 40 (iii)] Apparatus for viewing negative cinematograph films comprises a film scanning device from which signals are fed directly through a contrast inverting arrangement to an image reconstituting device for producing a positive picture. The contrast inverter may be as described in Specification 587,370, and may be arranged to be switched out for viewing positive film. Scanning may be effected by a cathode-ray beam scanning a screen of which the image is projected on a photo-electric cell, the reconstituting device also being a cathoderay tube driven from the same scanning generator as the scanning tube. The feeding of the film through the scanning gate can be continuous or intermittent and means may be provided for reversing the movement of the film to be viewed.
