Abstract

418,224. Range-finders. WOTTON, E., 7, Nelson Crescent, Ramsgate, Kent. April 21, 1933, Nos. 11638, 13683, 13684, 14116, 14117, 16956, 26553, 30159, and 31922. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii).] A range-finder operating on the triangulation method views the object by infra-red rays, and the image may be transmitted to a distance by television. Cameras 19 of the cinematograph type at the viewing points A, B use an infra-red sensitive film, which, after passing through developing apparatus 20, is scanned by a television transmitter 21. At a control station, Fig. 3, the two sets of signals are applied to separate arms 26, 27 of a cathode-ray tube 24 with a common fluorescent screen 25. Turn. tables 22 supporting the cameras are rotated by distantly controlled motors 23 until the two views on the screen coincide. According to modifications : the two views without the use of an intermediate film are superimposed optically by a semi-transparent mirror and a single television transmitter is used, Fig. 1 (not shown) ; the views on the two films are projected on a local screen, and no television is used, Fig. 4 (not shown).
