Abstract

590,155. Mixing-machines. STOTHERT & PITT, Ltd., and BISHOP, C. E. J. April 16, 1945, No. 9503. [Class 86] A shaker mechanism for the loading hopper of a concrete mixer comprises one or more pivoted levers one end of each of which is caused, by means carried by the axle supporting the hopper when the latter approaches its discharge position, to swing into contact with cam means carried by and rotatable with the mixing drum so that each lever is rocked to impart a jolting action to the hopper. In the discharging position of the pivoted loading skip, 11, Fig. 1, of a mixing drum 6, a pair of projections 3, Fig. 2, on the axle 1 of the skip each operate a pivoted bell crank lever 4 to bring a roller 5 into the path of a pair of diametrically opposed cams 8 affixed to the drum 6. On the rotation of the drum the cams 8 rock the levers 4 to impart a succession of jolts to the axle 1 which is mounted in slotted bearings 2. Each cam 8 is mounted adjustably on the drum 6 by a bolt 9 passing through a slot 10, so that the severity of the jolts imparted to the skip may be varied. The rocking movements of the levers is limited by stops 12 affixed to the mixer frame.
