Abstract

589,240. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., FRANCIS, V. J., and NELSON, E. H. Sept. 18, 1944, No. 17825. Addition to No. 579,375. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A high power, high-pressure lamp, as described in the parent Specification in which the cathode and a cluster of anodes are disposed on opposite sides of a plane, so that each anode has an uninterrupted view of the cathode, contains, during normal operation, an atmosphere consisting of, or mainly consisting of permanent gas. If the atmosphere is not wholly a permanent gas, the partial pressure of condensible vapour in the said atmosphere when the lamp is in normal operation is less than 200 millimetres. If each anode has its own lead through the envelope, a multiple stripseal of the kind described in Specifications 489,534, [Group XXXVI], 489,626 and 489,630 is used.
