579,366. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRANCIS, V. J. Oct. 17, 1941, No. 13394. [Class 39 (i)] A high pressure metal vapour discharge lamp, to operate on direct current and for use in optical projection apparatus has cylindrical electrodes 1, 2 lying along the same axis with the end face of the anode 2 cut obliquely and at an angle of about 45 degrees to that axis, so that the lamp will emit light at right angles to the axis without obscuration by the anode.
