Abstract
588,639. Rockets. SCHERMULY, C. D., SCHERMULY, A. J., and SCHERMULY, C. Feb. 9, 1945, No. 3276. [Class 9 (ii)] The propellent composition 4 of a rocket is made with a central axial hole (i extending throughout its length so that the flash from the cartridge which fires the rocket from a discharger passes through this hole and ignites the delay composition 11 which after a predetermined time ignites the booster which ejects and ignites the parachute flare in the head 9. This flash also ignites the propellent composition 4. Layers of clay 3, 5 are arranged on each side of the propellent composition.
