Abstract

1,120,391. Self-propelled missiles. MINISTER OF TECHNOLOGY. 17 Nov., 1958 [22 Nov., 1957], No. 36558/57. Heading F3A. In a rocket having solid sustaining and booster charges, the latter are mounted at the rear of the sustaining charge which is ignited first. The hot gases from the sustaining charge pass along a cylindrical hole in the booster to the nozzle and ignite the booster which burns outwardly from the cylindrical hole and discharges through the same nozzle. As shown, the igniter 29 is fired by the wiring 36 and fires the sustainer charge 26, the hot gases from which pass through the nozzle 15, the tubular booster charge 32 and rearwardly through nozzle 19. The booster charge is ignited and the hot gases therein formed also flow through nozzle 19.
