Abstract
587,760. Electric couplings. LODGE PLUGS, Ltd., and HOPPS, B. Jan. 16, 1945, Nos. 1303 and 1721. [Class 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a screened sparking plug having an insulating sleeve b for attachment to the end of the high tension cable c within the screen a cap a of rubber or like resilient material is mounted on and embraces the upper end of the sleeve to prevent the sleeve rubbing against the screen during vibration. A terminal i may be attached to the sleeve at the end opposite to the cap and arranged to form a spigot-and-socket connection with the central electrode of the plug. The spigot h as shown may be on the electrode or it may be on the terminal. A metal socket d may surround the rubber cap and be connected to the screening casing of the cable c. The cable is attached to the terminal piece by a joint inside the insulating sleeve and the terminal is held in place by a nut 1.
