587,260. Drums. DEANS, C. F., and BUSBY, A. E. Dec. 7, 1944, No. 24519. [Class 88 (ii)] A drum head tensioning device has jaws 3 which grip the drum hoop and which are carried on threaded spindles 5 engaging in diametrically threaded bushes 10 pivotally mounted within a yoke 9, the spindles and bushes having a degree of angular freedom in the yoke whereby'the pull on the jaws is evenly distributed over the jaw head. As shown, the threaded end 7 of each spindle 5 passes into a hole 8 of the yoke with some clearance, thus providing the degree of freedom, and the bush 10 may also be slightly smaller than the aperture in which it is mounted. The yoke is extended to mask the threaded ends of the spindles.
