585,938. Hydraulic transmission of power. STEVENS, A. H. (Borg-Warner Corporation). July 25, 1944, No. 14203. [Class 69 (ii)] In a hydraulic coupling of the vaned type, the vanes 13 are secured to the shell 10 by providing two slots 11, 12 in the shell 10 and two tabs 15, 16 on the vane. The tab 15 is slotted and relieved at 20 and the vane is relieved at 19 to permit the tab 15 to be inserted in the slot 11 and the vane to be turned into position. The inner end of the vane is relieved at 17 and the hub 24 is pressed into position to deform the shell against the vane and press the slot 12 over the tab 16 ; slots 25 in the hub receive the projecting ends of the tabs 16. The edge of the shell is welded to the hub. In a modification, the tabs 15 are rectangular and are turned over after passing through the slot.
