Abstract

781,697. Gear pumps. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. April 10, 1956 [April 14 1955], No. 10876/56. Class 110 (2). The movable bushings 14, 17 of a gear pump, Fig. 2, are provided with inlet and anti-trapping grooves 33, 34 which are shaped and arranged as shown. The bushings may be flanged or of uniform diameter and the fixed bushings may be provided with grooves similar to those of the movable bushings. One or both grooves may be rectangular in shape, see Fig. 5 and Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown). Finally, only one bushing need be provided with grooves or the grooves applied to pumps incorporating fixed bushings only or the casing when the latter abuts the gears. Specifications 572,967 and 659,008 are referred to.
