608,534. Making vane-wheels for hydraulic couplings. BORG-WARNER, CORPORATION. Feb. 26, 1946, No. 5953. Convention date, Feb. 28, 1945. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXIX] Jointing by stamping.-In a method of fixing a vane to a supporting member, the vane is a plate having marginal teeth which bite into and deform the material' of the supporting member. Fig. 1 shows vanes 29, 30 fixed to the supporting members 34 and 35 respectively by teeth 31, 32, 33 and 39, 40, 41 respectively. The method of assembly is as shown for the vanes 29 in Fig. 2. The vanes are located in slots 44 in a punch member 42 on which the supporting member 34 is placed. The die member 51 has concentric annular sections 52, 53, 54 mounted on a shoe 55. Section 53 is spring loaded and constitutes the pressure pad. Fig. 3 shows the punch and die members partially closed; Fig. 4 shows them completely closed at the end of the assembling operation.
