Abstract

585,778. Endless-chain conveyers. WINGET, Ltd., and WEBB, E. H. Nov. 29, 1944, No. 23863. [Class 78 (i)] Apparatus for transferring blocks 'from a moulding machine to a conveyer or to a fixed or movable table comprises a reciprocating carrier which either is stationary at each end of its traverse when a block is being deposited on it or removed therefrom, or stationary only at the receiving position. The figures show a carrier 11 adapted to transfer a block 6 from a moulding machine to a conveyer 14, 15. The carrier is connected to a bell crank lever pivoted at 17, whose shorter arm 20 is pivotally connected to a link 21 which is in turn eccentrically pivoted at 22 to a gear wheel 24. Intermittent oscillation of the carrier is effected by a further wheel 27 having two sets of teeth 25, 26 which is connected to the block-making machine. In a modified arrangement the moulded block is lifted from the carrier by the vertical oscillation of a rod which lifts the block when the carrier is in the rearmost position and lowers it on to the conveyer when the carrier moves forward. In another modification the blocks are made by a vertically reciprocating mould which leaves said block on the carrier fingers which in turn transfer it to the conveyer.
