Abstract

1,228,671. Cleaning press dies. BRITISH CERAMIC RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 13 Jan., 1970 [16 Jan., 1969], No. 2534/69. Heading B5A. Apparatus for cleaning the upper die in press moulding apparatus for ceramics comprises a cleaning device, means for moving the cleaning device to a position below the top die for rotating the cleaning device, means for bringing the cleaning device and the top die into cleaning engagement and means for disengaging them and moving the cleaning device away from under the top die at the end of the cleaning operation. The cleaning device is preferably a brush contoured to fit the upper die and the die is preferably used for forming ceramic articles. The cleaning device is preferably mounted on an arm which is mounted for pivotal movement about a vertical axis to swing the cleaning device under the die. Alternatively the cleaning device may be moved in a straight line to its position under the die. The cleaning device is preferably moved by cams operated by a fluidpressure cylinder.
