Abstract

584,999. Bakers' ovens. CARR & CO., Ltd., and CARR, R. N. Nov. 21, 1944, No. 23107. [Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Groups VI and XI] In making unleavened bread or matzo the unbaked bread is led through a zone of radiant heat immediately before it enters the baking oven so as to prevent leavening or fermentation which might occur if it enters directly into the more moderate temperature in 'the oven entrance. The matzos passing from the cutter to a feed band 10 slide down a shute 9 on to an endless conveyer 3 which leads them into the oven. Electric heaters 5 and 2 are provided above and below the conveyer 3 to provide the high temperature zone. Gas or liquid fuel heaters may be used instead. The heater 5 is arranged within a cowl 6 and is adjustable in a bracket to vary the temperature. The cowl has a flange 11 extending close to a chute 9. Conductor plates 12 and 13 are provided to conduct some heat from the high temperature zone to the oven mouth.
