Abstract
661,744. Bakers' ovens. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T. (Vicars, T. H. M. L., and Gross, A. B.). April 24, 1950 [Dec. 5, 1949], No. 31135/49. Class 51 (ii). In a baker's oven in which articles are progressively conveyed through the baking chamber on a heated support, additional heat is supplied to the support at the oven entrance in inverse proportion to the loss ,of heat from said support to the articles conveyed thereon. As shown, Fig. 1, dough for loaves, biscuits, &c. is placed upon an endless conveyer 1 for transmission through the oven 2 which is normally heated by gas burners 14. Burners 3 preheat the conveyer 1 before it enters the oven 2 whilst the additional heat is supplied by an endless moving belt 5 heated by the burners 4. These burners are so controlled that heat therefrom will be supplied in greatest quantity where the cold articles come upon the conveyer and the additional heat may be reduced in quantity progressively as the conveyer passes into the oven, i.e. the burners 4 adjacent the pulley 6 give out more heat than the burners 4 adjacent the pulley 7. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the belt 5 is lapped around a jockey pulley 9 and displaceable roller 10, thus allowing adjustment of the point at which the additional heat commences to be transferred to the conveyer 1. As shown, Fig. 4, the additional heat is supplied by a refractory or metallic body 11 heated by burners 12. Instead of gas, electric or oil heating means may be employed.
