[Classes 78 (iv) and 104 (ii)] A bridge crane provided with a track 4 for its trolley is arrested at its correct position opposite a track 5 to which its trolley is to be transferred by flaps 7, 8 engaging its wheels 2, said flaps being pivoted on shafts 9, 10 so that the crane wheels may pass under one of them depending upon their direction of approach, and be arrested by the other. The driving motor of the crane is stopped by a cam 31 engaging a control arm and the fork-shaped end 38 of a lever 33 on the track 4 engages the spool-shaped end 37 of a lever 34 on the track 5. The fork 38 is later depressed by a cam 32 whereby the ends 33a, 34a of the levers 33, 34 are raised to clear the path of the trolley in the tracks 4, 5. The crane is released again and its motor started when the cams 32, 31 are raised and the flaps 7, 8 pivoted upwardly through a lever system operated by hand cords 16 on a lever 15, rings 43, 44 on rods 25, 27 of this system engaging levers 13, 14 to raise the flaps. Movement of the crane away from the track 5 when the trolley is beneath the levers 33, 34 is prevented by a shackle 41 on the cam 32 'engaging the lever 34, the presence of the trolley beneath either of the ends 33a, 34a of these levers preventing upward movement of the end 37 of the lever 34 and thus locking the cams.
