Abstract

584,398. Ventilators. GREENWOOD'S & AIRVAC VENTILATING CO., Ltd., HUGHES, B. D., and FORD, E. L. Aug. 16, 1944, No. 15652. [Class 137] In a ventilator construction as claimed in Specification 554,759 there is provided means comprising an annular element 8, supported above the aperture between the peripheral edge of the cover member 5 and the upper edge of the deflector band 7, whereby the ventilator is converted from an extractor ventilator to an inducer ventilator. As shown in Fig. 2, an annular channel-shaped element 8, semi-circular in cross-section has secured to its inner curved surface a slightly curved plate 9 which lies so that the downwardly curving edges of the member 8 extend over the reversely curved edges of the elements 5 and the top edge of the element 7. Where the element 7 is vertically disposed, the' conversion means comprise an inverted U- section element into the channel of which the upper part of the element 7 extends. In a further modification of the ventilator construction described in Specification 554,759, a weather band 12, as shown in Fig. 4, is provided between the edge of the cover member 5 and the edge of the deflector band 7*.
