Abstract

970,733. Chimney tops. CARTER BROS. (ROCHDALE) Ltd. Feb. 18, 1963 [Nov. 16, 1961], No. 40961/61. Heading F4J. A chimney cowl includes an inner cylindrical member 10 arranged to be located on or partially within a chimney, the member being provided with longitudinal openings 11 around its periphery, each opening having at its upper extremity a downwardly inclined deflector plate 12. A top closure plate 13 completely closes the upper extremity of the member 10 and overlies it, having in the overlying part a number of apertures 14, there being depending from the top closure plate and surrounding the inner member, a cylindrical shield 15. An annular gap 16 is formed between the shield 15 and member 10. The apertures 14 are offset relative to the openings 11. The shield 15 is provided with lugs 17 with lock screws 18 by which the cowl can be secured to the chimney.
