Abstract

1,256,426. Chimney cowls. P.J.T. ENG. CO. Ltd. 11 June, 1970 [14 March, 1969; 3 June, 1969], Nos. 13426/69 and 28089/69. Heading F4J. A chimney cowl 1 comprises a hollow hexagonal body closed at its top end and adapted to be fitted to a chimney at its lower end, the side walls of the cowl being formed with longitudinally extending radial gas outlet passages 7 over the ends of which flanged shields 8 are provided. The vent openings 10 from the passages 7 are thereby directed back towards the cowl body to prevent backdraughts. Further vent openings (not shown) are provided just below a flanged upper plate which closes off the top end of the body. The cowl may be made of stainless steel pressings or asbestos composition.
