Abstract
583,603. Control of motors. BERGMAN, L. G. Dec. 11, 1944, No. 24842. [Class 38 (iii)] [Also in Group XXX] Dung is removed from a gutter 1, Fig. 1, in a stable floor by a reciprocating scraper 2, the length of travel of which is increased gradually. The scraper is driven by an endless rope 12 actuated by a motor 13. The motor 13 drives a threaded shaft 18, Fig. 4, on which is mounted a nut 19 carrying pivotally an arm 20. One end of this arm is linked to a pole-changing switch 21 connected with the motor. The other end of this arm moves over a series of liftable stops 27 mounted on a shaft 26 which are raised in succession by projections 23 on rings fast on a shaft 22. The projections are arranged in a helical line. When the arm engages a stop, the continued movement of the nut actuates the switch 21 and the motor is reversed. The nut then travels in the opposite direction until it strikes an actuating member 25 which engages a toothed wheel 24 on the shaft 22. The resulting partial rotation of the shaft brings the stop on the next ring into the path of the arm, thus permitting. a longer travel of the nut.
