Abstract

583,384. Clips. CARR FASTENER CO., Ltd., and WAGSTAFF, G. Aug. 4, 1944, No. 14916. [Class 44] A clip for securing an article to an apertured support comprises a U-shaped member having resilient limbs 1, 2 to grip the article, the base 3 being inwardly bowed and having integral depending legs 6, 7 with shoulders 10 adapted to be passed through an aperture 12 in the support 11 and to snap into engagement behind the edge of the aperture to secure the clip to the support. The legs 6, 7 are stamped out of the base of the clip and bent into position, and as shown here curved edges leading to the shoulders 10 to facilitate insertion. The legs are offset so that their adjacent edges may slidably overlap during insertion in the aperture. The bowed base 3 serves to hold the shoulders firmly in contact with the surface of the support and also allows for use with different thicknesses of support. The limbs 1, 2 are preferably inwardly inclined and with outwardly flared ends 4, 5 as shown.
