583,182. Laying pipes &c. in trenches. HOWARD, A. C., and ROTARY HOES, Ltd. Feb. 3, 1944, Nos. 1975/44 and 1775/45. [Class 6 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Pipe-laying apparatus, which may be attached to a trench-cutter, comprises a sledge having a central vertical leading edge 7, vertical side-walls 1, a base 6 of truncated V formation and upper side plates 4 to enclose the pipe-conduit 2 and exclude soil from the trench. Guide rollers 11, 19 are fitted between the plates. The plate 4 supports an upright 3 of semi-circular cross-section. A cable 25 operated by a winch 29, 31 serves to draw the trench-cutter into position. Specification 571,914 is referred to.
