Abstract

583,121. Wheels. RIDER, G. H. Feb. 29, 1944, No. 3778. [Class 132 (iii)] A pneumatic tyred wheel for models comprises a spacing member and discs or their equivalent arranged at each side of the wheel and mounted on a hub component, means being provided to enable the discs to be drawn towards the spacing member for the purpose of clamping the tyre. The inner extremities of a pneumatic tyre, Fig. 2, are clamped between a spacing member 4 and side discs 5, 6 mounted on a hub component 10 which is screwed at one end and flanged at the other and is journalled on a spindle or axle 11. The discs 5, 6 are drawn together by turning the hub component 10. One of the discs is provided with an aperture 7 through which air can be pumped to the interior of the spacing member 4 whence by means of a non-return valve arrangement (i.e., the rubber sleeve 9 and openings 8) to the interior of the tyre. The hub component .10 may be integral with the disc 5 in which case the discs 5, 6 are brought towards one another by rotating the one relatively to the other. The threaded extremity of the hub component 10 may receive a domed cover or as shown the disc 6 may itself be domed. In some cases a bush is provided in the hub 10.
