[Class 38 (iv)] A portable welding plant comprises a vehicle 1 capable of being attached to a tractor and upon which is mounted a welding control unit 11, electrically connected to a generator 4 which can be driven by the engine of the tractor through shaft 8 and universal couplings 7, 9. A hood or casing 13, encloses a fan, driven off the generator, for cooling the control unit, which is preferably mounted on the top of a cupboard 14, having doors 15, the said cupboard serving to provide a work bench and accommodation for auxiliary gear such as cables, electrodes and tools. Cover 16 may be provided for protecting the plant, part 17 of the cover being removable or hinged to permit access to the bench. The vehicle may be provided with shoes or rollers 19, 21 mounted on vertically adjustable shafts 20, 22 rigidly to support the vehicle for work.
