581,923. Magnetic speedometers. ETABLISSEMENTS E. JAEGER. Sept. 11, 1941, No. 11657. Convention date, Oct. 29, 1940. [Class 106 (iii)] The metallic bell 3 of a magnetic speedometer is movable in the air gap between a fixed framework and a rotatable magnet 9, the axes of rotation of the bell and the magnet being at right angles. The magnet 9 is driven by a pulley mounted on the shaft 8. The index 1; solid with the bell 3, is urged towards zero by a spring 7. A pinion 12, Fig. 5, solid with the magnet 9, drives a gear carrying an eccentrically mounted pawl 16 which drives a ratchet wheel 17 secured to the first wheel of a distance indicator, a spring-pressed pawl 19 holding the wheel 17 against reverse movement.
