Abstract

509,608. Electric clocks. MORRISON, H. K. Jan. 18, 1938, No. 1684. [Class 139] Framework.-In a synchronous-motor clock, the motor and one or more steps of the reduction gearing form a separate unit and one or more of said gear steps is a noiseless or noiseabsorbing gear. The motor unit is clamped by screws 2, 2a, passing through polepieces 4, 4a into pillars 14, 15 on the rear plate A and comprises a magnet 3, of which the core is in magnetic contact with the polepieces, and a toothed rotor 5 ; the shaft 5a of the latter carries frictionally a fly-wheel 7 and rigidly a pinion 8 meshing with a wheel 9 of fibre or other soundabsorbing material. The shaft 10 of wheel 9 carries also a wheel 11 which, when the motor unit is in position, meshes with a wheel in the train between plates A and B.
