[Class 106 (iii)] A speedometer has constantly acting friction means acting on. the indicator spindle lightly enough not to interfere with the rotation thereof whilst it is being driven, but strongly enough tc prevent rotation when the drive is suddenly checked The friction means may comprise a block 4 which bears' on the spindle 1<SP>1</SP> which passes through a hole in the block. A weight 7 may be provided on an arm projecting from the spindle to counterbalance the pointer.
