[Class 108 (iii)] [See also Group XX] In order to provide damping, the moving part of an inclinometer or like instrument oscil. lates in the space between a permanent magnet 24 in an iron pot 23 and an iron plate 27 spaced from the mouth of the pot. As shown a pendulum 20, pivoted at 16 carries a toothed sector 19 gearing with a pinion 18 on the spindle 15 of a pointer 17.
