Abstract
525,748. Speedometers. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES), Ltd., S., and MOSS. E. B. Jan. 11, 1939, No. 947. [Classes 106 (iii) and 106 (iv)] In an eddy current speedometer the faster moving rotary indicator 30 is driven by a step up transmission and a slower moving indicator by a step down transmission from the eddy current member 24 and the restoring spring 40 is connected to the latter member. The speedometer is driven by a synchronous motor driven from a generator rotated by the member whose speed is to be measured. The eddy current member 24 is mounted on a spindle 25 one end of which is mounted by a jewelled bearing 26 on the end of a fixed shaft 14 on which the rotor 13 of the motor is mounted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 520,904.
