Abstract
581,228. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Aug. 16, 1944, No. 15617. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1943. [Classes 8 (i) and 8 (ii)] A suction cleaner of the type comprising an initial dirt separator 3 connected through a transfer passage 23 to a final filter chamber 4, and an outlet passage 31 to atmosphere is provided with a second final chamber 5 connected in parallel with the first by a transfer passage 24 and an outlet 33, and with selectively operated valve apparatus whereby the transfer and outlet passages of one filter are automatically opened as those of the other are closed. The valves such as 26 are operated by solenoids 48, 52 sequentially energised by a cam-actuated switch 61. Simultaneously electric vibrators 46, 47 are in turn energised by the switch 61 to shake dust from the filter so isolated. A single removable dust receptacle 8 latched to the cleaner at .9 is common to all three dirt chambers, and serves to close their lower ends.
