581,190. Scaffolding; posts. ALVELIN, C. A. W. April 3, 1944, No. 6168. Convention date, April 3, 1943. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (ii)] A scaffold comprises a number of vertical posts 1 of H-section and cross-beams 6 which are to support platform planks, each beam having at each end a metal member 7 having a hook 8 which fits into a recess 5 formed between the web of a post 1 and block 2, the block 2 being secured to the post 1 by bolts &c. The recess 5 may be formed in the block 2, as shown, or may be formed by spacing the block from the web. A metal clamp 4 is secured level with the upper edge of the block. To heighten the scaffold, the posts are placed on top of one another and their abutting ends are secured together by means of blocks 11, 12, which are bolted in the hollows of the H-section, a metal clamp 9 being disposed around the end of each post. As shown, the projecting ends of the blocks are staggered in height.
