Abstract

550,143. Roof-scaffolds. McKNIGHT, E. C. July 7, 1941, No. 8525. [Class 20 (ii)] A roof-scaffold bracket comprises a base member consisting of two spaced and cross connected members 1, 2 adapted to rest on the inclined surface, two spaced tie members 3, 4 pivotally connected to the upper ends of the base members, and two spaced and cross-connected strut members, pivotally connected to the lower ends of the base members, the free ends of the tie and strut members being provided with a series of apertures, whereby they may be adjustably connected together by cross or separate bolts 15, 16, to vary the angularity of the bracket. Removal of these bolts allows collapse of the bracket to a substantially flat form. The ends of the lower members may be spaced apart by tubular members 11 and 13 through which pass the securing bolts 12 and 14, respectively. The struts may be provided with multiple spacing elements 17 on which scaffold boards may rest. The platform is held by chains passing on to or over the ridge of the roof. Scaffolding for chimneys may be erected on brackets spaced apart on both sides of the roof.
