Abstract

794,431. Scaffolding. MITCHELL ENGINEERING, Ltd., and WING, W. F. April 19, 1956 [Feb. 11, 1955], No. 4182/55. Class 20(2) A scaffolding for inclined structures comprises a plurality of H-units having uprights 1, 2 which are inclined, or are adjustable to an inclined position, in the plane of the H-unit. In the embodiment described, H-units of adjustable inclination comprise upright 1, 2 pivotally connected to the ends of a cross member 3. Vertically adjacent .H-units are connected together by two L-shaped tubular steel units 14 each comprising a length 15 having a shorter length 16 pivoted thereto, the lengths 15 and 16 being connected to the uprights 1, 2 and cross members 3 respectively by means of clips 13-secured to the uprights and cross members. In an alternative form, the means for connecting vertically adjacent H-units consists of a U-shaped unit having two pivotal joints in its cross member. The upper ends of the uprights of the H-units have brackets 7 which may be secured to the horizontal scaffolding members. Swivel clamping couplings (not shown) for bracing members are carried by loose rivets 5 of the pivotal joints between the uprights 1, 2 and cross members 3. One of the uprights 1 of each H-unit carries a fixing' bracket 12 which can be secured to the wall adjacent to which the scaffolding is erected.
