580,187. Air conditioners. REEVES, H. A. June 15, 1944, No. 11439. [Class 137] [Also in Group XXVIII] In air-conditioning machines, e.g., portable appliances for use in rooms, a motor-driven fan is housed in a casing which includes at least two louvre-forming elements surrounding a tubular filter unit. As shown, the housing comprises three louvres, 1, 8 and 9 spaced apart by pillars 11 formed of inter-threaded sections 12. The top louvre 1 has an upwardly extended wall 2 which encloses the fan 3, the top of the housing being closed by wire gauze 6. The bottom louvre 8 is formed with a base plate 7 on which the fan motor 5 is mounted and the bottom sections of the pillars have feet 19 secured thereto. The air passes through the top louvre 1 and the centre louvre (or louvres) 9 surrounding the tubular filter 10, the preferred direction of flow being inwards through the cover plate 6 and outwards through the louvres. The top louvre is clamped to the pillars by nuts 16 which also secure a spider 20 supporting a tray 21 containing a deodorant or disinfectant. Air heating, cooling or humidifying means may also be provided.
