579,818. Discharge apparatus. MAYO, B. J. May 29, 1943, No. 8632. [Class 39 (i)] In a velocity-modulation device, the bunched beam impinges on a secondary-emitting surface 12, the emission from which excites the output resonator. The surface 12 may be beyond the output resonator (Fig. 1) or before it (Fig. 3) ; in the latter case, it may be integral with the drift tube 20 or separate from it. Specifications 574,512 and 577,037 are referred to.
