Abstract
578,796. Open-close stoves. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO., and EATON, F. J. Nov. 16, 1944, No. 22757. [Class 126] In a solid-fuel stove, provided with a front retaining wall for the fuel bed and with accurate damper control of the admission of air to the bottom of the fuel bed, a movable closure device in the front opening, converts the stove into a semi-closed or closed fire, has its inner. surface lined with refractory material &c. in the closed position, forms an upward extension of the said front retaining wall. A shutter 16 having a refractory lining 17 is provided with spring loaded guide pins 19, siliding in grooves 21 in the side members 23 of the grate. A recess 25 between the canopy 26 and lintel 27 normally houses the shutter 16, which is seated on the front retaining wall 13 in its closed position. The shutter may be fitted with an unlined hinged flap, which completely closes the front of the grate and may also carry bowed spring guides replacing the spring controlled pins 19. A door or doors may replace the shutter. Specification 539,010 is referred to.
