[Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXI] A folding bicycle frame includes a pair of tubular frame members 29, 30 secured together for relative movement by a pair of joint fixtures 31, 32 having flanges 44 connected by a pin 45 which is offset laterally from the frame members to allow them to be folded into parallel relationship, the fixtures 31, 32 including one or more interlocking ribs and grooves 62, 63 which may be wedge shaped and are clamped into engagement when the frame is in its extended position so as to provide a rigid connection between the fixtures 31, 32 and prevent strain being taken by the pin 45. The clamping action is effected by a bolt 40 screwed into a hole 38 in the fixture 31 and engaging in a slotted extension 32a of the fixture 32 the outer face of which is engaged by the head 52 of the bolt. Withdrawal of the bolt from the hole 38 is limited by a circlip 42 which assists to hold the bolt rigidly in position for reengagement with the slotted portion 32a. Clearance between the pin 45 and the bores of one of the two hinge flanges allows wear to be taken up in the grooves and teeth 65 and 66 without imposing strain on the pin 45.
