Abstract

577,882. Elevated railways. AVELING- BARFORD, Ltd., PENN, O. S., and GREEN, N. D. Nov. 30, 1944, No. 23906. [Class 104 (ii)] In a monorail saddle railway, each rail length is hinged to a portable transverse pedestal adjustable in height. Each rail has a cylindrical head a, vertical web a<1> and flat base a<2>, the web being recessed at each end and the head a provided with a peg a<3>, and the base a<2> with a slotted aperture; a strengthening plate a<5> is welded to the head and base of the rail. The pegs and apertures engage holes and pegs b carried by arms b<2>, b<5> on a support b<1> which also has a cylindrical member b<3> in line with the heads a. The support bl has webs b<7> connected to sockets b<8> which receive tubular stems b<10> with bearing feet, holes b<9>, b<11> being provided for pins c which secure the support at adjusted height. Both arms b<2>, b<5> may have pegs or slots to engage slots or pegs on the rails. The rail head may be flat or elliptical.
