Expanding tables.- Extension leaves G, G' rest under the fixed top D and carry on their underside arms H, H<1> passing through slots L in the table frame end rails C and extending downwards between central cross bars F, F<1> on the frame. Each arm H, H<1> has a groove I along the straight portion, at the end of which a recess J is made in the side of the arm leading to a groove K parallel with and below the groove, I. Metal plates M secured on the end frame rails project partly over each slot L to engage the grooves I and when the leaves G, G<1> are pulled from under the top D and are raised level therewith, the plates M engage the grooves K to hold the leaves in place.
