Abstract

577,542. Weighing-apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., and LEESON, A. Nov. 6, 1943, No. 18446. [Class 143] [Also in Group XXXII] A shock-absorbing mechanism comprising opposed springs k, g in a casing f is pivoted between the weighing lever b and a lever n having pivotal connection through a double bent leaf spring o with a rack p which meshes with a pinion q mounted on the spindle ql of the pointer. The lever b is connected by a rod a with the load platform and the load is resisted by a calibrated spring d. A plug j is fixed midway in the casing f and when a load is applied to the platform, the pull is transmitted by the head e<1> of the rod e to the spring g which moves the casing downwardly and operates the pointer through the rod l. On removal of the load, the casing f is moved upwardly against the action of the other. spring k by the head e<1> abutting the plug j. The spring k acts on the head l<1> of the rod l to return the pointer to zero. A weighted bellcrank lever r with a roller r<1> maintains the rack p in mesh with the pinion q.
