576,930. Windshield adjusters. WORCESTER WINDSHIELDS & CASEMENTS, Ltd., and JONES, A. E. E. June 8, 1944, Nos. 10967 and 14319. [Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIV] In means for adjusting windshield and other angularly movable panels of the kind comprising a unilaterally flexible chain adapted to take an endwise thrust and provided with teeth meshing with an operating worm, the teeth are formed on the underside of the chain, thus providing an underdrive. As shown, the chain A is attached to the lower end of the windshield 1 and passes through a curved guide housing 3. The teeth 5 on its underside engage with the worm 6 carried by a spindle 7 mounted obliquely to the chain. The coupling links 13, which make the chain rigid in a downward direction, are of inverted U-section, Fig. 6, and embrace solid driving links 12 in which the teeth are formed. Alternative forms of chain are described in which the toothed driving links are of U-section or embrace the coupling links and are of inverted U or loop section, the coupling links being of solid or inverted U-section. In other forms the chain consists of links formed of flat plates pivoted together and having rectangular or arcuate teeth formed on all of them.
