[Class 69 (i)] In a flow meter comprising a vertical metering tube in which a float moves up and down, a pair of identical and interchangeable elements detachably secured together form end fittings and a housing for the metering tube. Identical L-shaped members 30a, 30b, have recesses 53 receiving gaskets 54 adapted to engage the ends of the metering tube 31 to give tight joints when the members 30a, 30b, are connected by bolts inserted in holes 45. The members 30a, 30b, have passages 39 for the flow of fluid, openings 36,. 41, being provided whereby the meter may be connected in a horizontal, vertical or angled pipe line, the openings not in use being plugged. The tube 31 is of glass, plastic or other material and may have a cylindrical bore'with tapered flutes of angular, circular, elliptical or other crosssection whereby movement of the float 32 causes variation of the size of the passage past the float ; the floats may decrease in depth downwardly. In another form, the bore of the tube is tapered and without flutes. Movement of the float is limited by pins 55 held by plugs 57 which may be integral with the pins ; in another form the pins are vertical. The metering tube is calibrated inside or outside or both.
